    Sexual harassment in context of Malaysia

    Sexual harassment is a form of sex discrimination or unwelcome sexual action includes verbal or physical touch that can affect the individual’s employment, work performance and others including physical and mental health. Sexual harassment may occur in many condition or situation such as between opposite gender or with the same gender. The victim may be the superior, co-worker, an agent or to a non-employee (U. S. E. E. O. Commission, n.d.). Sexual harassment also not an action with interactivity, friendship or teasing that is mutually agreed (V. E. O. & H. R. Commission, n.d.). However, there are two types of sexual harassment, “quid pro quo” (this for that) and hostile environment. For “quid pro quo”, this occur when it is stated or implied that an individual must agree to conduct a sexual nature in order to get promotion. Other that, hostile environment occur when there is unwelcome action of a sexual nature create frighten, abusive working or threatening that can affect the individual’s ability to participate or perform their task (Center, n.d.)

    The influence of personality trait on the relationship of emotional intelligence and self-esteem

    The theoretical solutions are simply not able to unlock the psychological issues because it is closely linked to affective, cognitive and human behaviour in the workplace. In this study, the issues in the workplace are referring to personality, emotional intelligence and self-esteem of employees. The specific purpose of this study was to test the effect of extraversion personality as a moderator towards the relationship of emotional intelligence and self-esteem of employees. A total of 196 civil servants in the Local Authority (LA) have been selected as respondents. Measurement tools that used is Eysenck Personality Questionnaire-Revised Short Form (EPQR-S), Emotional Intelligence Self-Description Inventory (EISDI), and Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES). The data was analysed by using the hierarchical regression analysis. The finding shows that the two hypotheses are accepted. From this analysis as well, there was a moderating effect of extraversion personality on the relationship between emotional intelligence (perception and appraisal of emotion, and understanding emotions) with self-esteem of employees. The most important finding shows that extraversion personality serves as moderator when the relationship between emotional intelligence and self-esteem are enhanced if extraversion were on a high level. This is compared with the low levels of extraversion personality that causing on relationship of emotional intelligence with self-esteem becoming weaker

The aim of this study is to develop a theoretical framework in relations to examine the effects of employee’s satisfaction and participation, delegation authority and empowerment on employee’s performance in UAE organizations. Specifically, to get an in-depth understanding of the linkage between delegation authority and employees performance with emphasize on (employee participation and employee satisfaction). This study is only limited to Dubai organizations and future research may be conducted in other countries as well as can assess the moderating role in the defined variables. By integrating employee’s satisfaction and participation, delegation authority and empowerment, and employee’s performance literature, the main contribution of this paper is the analysis of defined variables in Dubai organizations with emphasize on new challenges and to boost up the gap of relevant literature

    The mediating role of employee performance on the relationship between delegation of authority and decision making

    The aim of this study is to enhance understanding in the animated extent of delegation authority and its role in decision making. Precisely, the prime objective of this study is to visualize the concept and propose the effects of delegation authority on decision making along with the mediating role of employees’ performance in the Police department at Dubai. Based on an inclusive and systematic literature review of delegation authority, decision making, and employee’s performance, this study will collect data through self-administered questionnaires based survey in a quantitative manner. The collected data will be analyzed through smart partial least square structure equation modelling for validating the model, testing hypothesis, and finding results. This study will highlight some new insights into the relevant knowledge area. Specifically, the results will contribute to enhance the motivational synergy of upper management to include the employees in decision-making process to improve their performance. This study is only limited to the police department of Dubai and future studies can examine the relationship between defined constructs in other service sector and the moderating role of employees’ performance. By integrating delegation authority, decision making, and employee’s performance literature, the prime contributions of this study are the analysis of defined variables in the police department of Dubai with emphasize on new challenges and to boost up the gap of relevant literature

    Factors affecting the role of human resource department in private healthcare sector in Pakistan: a case study of Rehman Medical Institute (RMI)

    The role of Human Resource Management in healthcare sector and challenges it faces has always been an important area of research both in developed and developing countries. The objective of this study is to evaluate the role of HR department in private healthcare sector in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), Pakistan and to analyze the challenges/factors affecting the role of HR department. Being the largest private sector hospital in KPK the researchers have selected RMI as a case for this study. Data was collected through interviews from different levels of employees in RMI. Constant comparative method was used for analyzing the data. Results present that HR department plays the role of an administrative expert in RMI. The major internal factors include workload, top management interference, management style and organizational culture which negatively effect motivation, performance and morale of the employees. While small labour market, undue interference of government and other higher authorities and trade unions are the external factors that affect the role of HR department in RMI. All these external factors create difficulties for HR department to attract and retain the desired workforce

    Effect of on-the-job coaching on management trainees performance: a post merger case study of Glaxo-Smith-Klein Pakistan

    This paper has identified the relationship between on-the-job coaching and job performance by considering the external forces involved in this relationship. The framework of the study illustrates the relationship between on the job coaching and job performance. The research has used quantitative design by application of case study technique. The data was collected through questionnaires from Marketing Sales Executives (MSEs) in the Rawalpindi/Islamabad regions of Glaxo-Smith-Kline (GSK). The paper has identified several variables which constitute coaching and it was found by the results that job performance has a positive relationship with on-the-job coaching. Furthermore the variables of coaching like coach ability, team coordination, action learning, and flexibility of the coach are also positively related with Job Performance. The paper suggests that at GSK, coaches need to lead from the front and use action learning techniques more often and they should perform what they deliver to the employees. Several rewards can also be given to trainees who perform well during the session. Sometimes a pat on the back can increase motivation immensely which in turn increases their performance on the job

    NEWS analysis towards youth financial competency management

    This is a descriptive study of the financial management competency of rural youth. Around 200 youths from areas of Parit Raja, Batu Pahat Johor participated as respondents for this study. Lack of knowledge in managing finances and imbalance in mitigating lifestyles are chief factors which caused youth to be within the highest group declared bancrupt in 2014. 36 items in the survey was ued as intrument for this study which are respondents’ background, spending pattern based on NEWS Analysis, competeny level in financial management and challenges faced in managing finances. Results yielded showed that expenditure pattern for youth in ‘needs’ are significantly higher than those in ‘wants’. Eventhough the ratio is rather small which is 1:30, the level of competency of youth finance is rather high at the value of min 4.04. Nevertheless, the challenges faced by respondents are at an average level (min=3.14). In conclusion, rural youths has high level of literacy. This is due to the exposure obtained when they were young and spending pattern based on NEWS Analysis. Hence, even though youth faced obstacles they are nevertheless aware and know the steps which need to be taken to ensure the stability of their finances
